Lotus Phang Support Spindles
Lotus Phang Support Spindles
Lotus Phangs are super special spindles! Slow and steady wins a beautiful yarn. They are called 'Lotus' because thats the name we came up with when we were experimenting with the design of them. It looks like an upside down lotus bud just before it opens up into a beautiful flower ! Well that's what we see, do you?
We use a variety of timbers to make Lotus Phangs including, American Cherry, Tasmanian Blackwood, American Walnut, French Oak, Maple, and many others. We do source some of our timbers from unique local suppliers which offers us an opportunity to showcase the incredible resource that timber is! Whether its the French Oak reclaimed from a winery in Northern Victoria, Originally made in France as wine barrels and imported to Vic in the late 19th century where they developed and matured their wines for over a 100 years before being repurposed. Most if not all of the Cypress are reclaimed fence posts that have been weathered for many years on the land.
The shape remains the same for all spindles, just the final shape will vary based on the individual weight of the timber used. Some timbers lend themselves with their natural features for the 'WOW' factor, some for Stone inlay, others for Pyro and of course, some remain unembellished so as to show off their natural beauty!
Each spindle purchased is sold with an accompanying details sheet, an organza bag and a practice sample piece of fibre to get you on your way as soon as you receive the spindle in the mail.
We can add a beautiful signature Pyro especially for you, or of course a magical ring of semi precious stone Inlay to make your Phang extra special !
* Please be aware these Phangs are heavier than usual!
