Viva Frida Churro Agave Blend Tops
Viva Frida Churro Agave Blend Tops
A wonderful blend with cactus fibres inspired by Frida Kahlo and I see you thinking :”What? Are you crazy? I’m not wearing cactus!”, think again! Agave, like hemp or flax, is a bast fibre and it is a beautiful fibre to spin, knit and weave with.
Preparing the plant into spinable fibre It takes a lot of effort: the plant after harvesting needs to be retted (=using moisture and bacteria to dissolve the tissues surrounding the fibres), drying, crushing and beating. Agave cactus fibres have strength, lustre, durability and moisture absorbency; it gets softer with wear; it dries faster than cotton, is a great conductor of heat and has a cooling effect. This blend is an excellent base for socks or anything from jumpers to bags. Anything goes!
